Overview
This course was designed to discuss compassionate care in nursing leadership. This presentation was created to discuss how nurses, as leaders, can practice compassionate leadership in nursing to engender a culture that supports flourishing.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, the participants will be able to:
- Define Compassionate Care
- Describe the qualities required for compassionate leadership
- Discuss case example of problems arising from toxic leadership
- Discuss how to cultivate compassion to support environments of flourishing
Speakers
Professor, University of Kentucky College of Nursing
Chizimuzo (Zim) Okoli, is a professor at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing, executive director of the Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BHWELL) and director of Behavioral Health Research and Evidence-Based Practice at Eastern State Hospital. He currently serves on the Board of the Kentucky Nurses Foundation.
